Autumnal Reflections I
In mid-October I attended an exhibition at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan. The leaves in Waveny Park were a mixture of colors from those trees that had turned as well as others still waiting to show their colors. I decided to walk out behind the arts center and explore the grounds. It was a little after 6PM and the sun was heading down for the day. I came across a small pond that was lined with trees of many types. This was a very still and dark water usually produced by many seasons of leaves composting in the bottom. It provided a perfect mirror for the reflection of the sun off the tops of the trees across the pond and when cropped closely all looks upside down. I included a small amount of the near shoreline to allow the viewer to orient themselves after a time.
